I'm Adam Faze. I'm an 18-year-old filmmaker in Los Angeles, CA.
I've known I wanted to work in the film industry for as long as I can remember. Whether it been through a YouTube channel in grade school, making super-8 shorts in high school, or reading the trades on a daily basis, it was something I never let myself escape.
In my junior year of high school, I founded a film festival, which, over the course of two years, was able to receive hundreds of submissions from across the country, sponsors like SAG-AFTRA, Relativity Media, and LACMA, and guest speakers like Academy Award nominated producer Michael De Luca (Captain Phillips, The Social Network) and actress Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars, Spring Breakers).
While the film festival taught me a lot about how the film industry worked, there was still a blank path ahead of me to get to success in the entertainment industry. After graduating high school in June of 2015, that path only became more unclear.
I came to the realization that the best way to uncover this path was to ask the ones who had traveled on it before me. This idea, over time, became a podcast.
The fact of the matter is that very few people end up "making it" in the entertainment industry. In A Leg Up, I interview the ones that did, and try to figure out what it was that led them to success, as well as ask them for advice for myself and anyone else trying to make it.
Simply put: it's a podcast about making it in Hollywood hosted by a kid trying to do just that.
Episodes have included interviews with Jay Leno, writer/director John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks), Academy Award winning producer John Lesher (Birdman), Academy Award nominated actor Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight), the Duplass brothers (Togetherness), and Vice Chairman of Universal Studios, Ron Meyer.
I hope you enjoy my podcast and continue listening until the end.
